Creating and Configuring SAML App in Okta

Creating and configuring a SAML app in Okta involves several steps designed to ensure secure communication between your application and Okta's identity management service.

  1. The user has to navigate to the Okta home screen.

  2. The user has to click the Applications button from the Applications drop-down. The Applications window will be displayed.

  3. The user has to click the Create App Integration button, and the Create a New App Integration window will be displayed.

  4. The user has to select the SAML 2.0 radio button and click the Next button.

  5. The user has to enter the App name in the Enter app name field and click the Next button.

  6. The user has to unselect the Use this for Recipient URL and Destination URL checkbox.

  7. The user has to enter the Single sign-on URL in the enter single sign-on URL field.

  8. The user has to enter the Recipient URL in the enter recipient URL field.

  9. The user has to enter the Destination URL in the enter destination URL field.

  10. The user has to enter the Audience URI (SP Entity ID) in the enter Audience URI (SP Entity ID) field. Note: The last section of the URI will be considered as the server name when SAML is configured in Avo Assure. In this demonstration, “OktaSAML” will be considered as the server name.

  11. The user has to click the Next button, select the I’m a software vendor radio button, and click the Finish button.

  12. The app will be created and in the “Active” state; the user has to navigate to the Sign On tab and click the More Details Arrow icon.

  13. The user has to copy the Sign-On URL data to a safe location [This data will be required when configuring SAML in Avo Assure.]

  14. The user has to copy the Issuer data to a safe location [This data will be required when configuring SAML in Avo Assure.]

  15. To download the certificate, the user has to click the Download button. [This certificate will also be required when configuring SAML in Avo Assure.]

  16. The user has to navigate to the Assignments tab and select Assign to People from the Assign drop-down menu.

  17. A list of users will be displayed in the Assign to People window. The user has to select any user(s) and to assign, click the Assign button.

  18. Upon clicking Assign, the respective user details will be displayed. The user has to review the user details, edit if necessary, and click the Save and Go Back button. Note: If required, add multiple users.

  19. The user has to click the Done button. The assigned user will be displayed in the Assignments tab.
