Avo Genius

Why was this developed?

Avo Genius, a smart recorder, was developed to streamline test case creation by automatically capturing elements as users navigate through applications. It now captures elements based on business names, making them easily identifiable. Designed to support both technical and non-technical users, Avo Genius enables efficient test design and execution, significantly reducing the effort and time required for test case creation. This feature simplifies the testing process, making it faster and more accessible for users of all expertise levels. Additionally, Avo Genius supports both web and SAP applications, ensuring broader usability across platforms.

What is the goal?

The goal of developing Avo Genius is to simplify and accelerate the test case creation process while enhancing element identification through business names. By enabling users to automatically capture elements and steps as they navigate through applications, it reduces manual effort and complexity. Designed for both web and SAP platforms, this feature empowers users of all expertise levels to create and execute test cases efficiently, ensuring a more intuitive and streamlined testing experience.

How does this work?

Prerequisites for Web:

1. To capture elements for a web application, the user must first create a project specifically for the web application.

2. The user needs to download the Avo Genius extension from their chrome store.

Avo Genius for Web

1. The user has to navigate to the landing page click on Projects list and select the project from list.

2. The user has to click on Create Test Case button from the middle pane of the landing page, the user has to click on Record with Record with Avo Genius (Smart Recorder) button to bring up directly to URL window.

3. The user has to enter the URL of the desired application and click on Go button.

4. After clicking on Go button it brings up Avo Genius popup window.

5. The user has to click on the Activate Genius to start the recording.

6. The user needs to capture the desired elements from the application.

7. Once the elements are captured, the user should click the Stop button. If the user wants to temporarily halt the capturing process, they can click the Pause button

8. After clicking on the stop button popup will occur message “Are you sure you want to stop the recording?”, click on the Yes button.

9. The user has to click on Save button from bottom pane.

Expand All		The user can Expand all the recorded screens and test steps.
Erase All data		The system will erase all the recorded data
Preview Scenario		If the user clicks the Preview Scenario icon, the system will navigate the user to the execution page, and the user can start execution from the execution.
Save Data		If the user clicks on the Save Data icon, then the recorded data will saved
Data Parameterization		Suppose the user clicks the Data Parameterization icon. In that case, the system will download an Excel file with a variable name as row headings, in which the user has to provide values to each Variable that will be used as a parameter in the test step.
Maximize		The Maximize feature is used to expand a section

Prerequisites for SAP:

1. The user needs to download the SAP application onto their desktop.

2. To capture elements for a SAP application, the user must first create a project specifically for the SAP application from Projects list.

3. The user needs to download the Avo Genius extension from their browser.

Avo Genius for SAP:

1. The user has to click on Create Test Case button from the middle pane of the landing page, the user has to click on Record with Record with Avo Genius (Smart Recorder) button to bring up directly to URL window.

2. The user hast to select Application Type as “SAP” from dropdown then enter the SAP Path and click on Start Recording button.

3. After clicking on Start Recording button the SAP window will appear.

4. The user needs to click the Play button located in the top right corner to start capturing the elements.

5. The user has to navigate through the testing scenario within the SAP Application to record the test cases.

6. The user has to click on Save button located in top right corner.

How can I get this?

If the user upgrades to the latest version of Avo Assure to 24.2.0, this feature will be available automatically.
