# Importing & Exporting Element Repository

## Importing Element Repository&#x20;

The Import Elements function allows you to retrieve elements from the local machine and store them in a project which can be reused, serving as a backup for future reference.&#x20;

To import element repository, perform the following actions:

1. On the **Home** page, from **Projects** list, select required project.
2. Select **Design Studio**.
3. From folder, select ellipses (**...**) icon.
4. Select **Create Repository**.
5. Select technology and rename the Element Repository.
6. Select **Import Element Repository** icon. The **Import** dialog open.

**Note:** Importing elements into an existing Element Repository replaces the previously available elements with the newly imported elements.

7. On the **Import** dialog, select **Choose file** and then choose .json file from your system.

8. Select **Import** to import element repository.

## Exporting Element Repository&#x20;

The Export Elements function is used to retrieve elements from the element repository and save them to a local machine or directly export them into a new project for future reference or backup.&#x20;

To export Element Repository, perform the following actions:

1. On the **Home** page, from **Projects** list, select required project.
2. Select **Design Studio**.
3. Expand folder and select required element repository to export.
4. Select **Export Element Repository** icon. The **Export** dialog opens.
5. On **Export** dialog, select **Export** button.
6. You can find exported file in your **Downloads** folder.
