# Add Step Details

The **Add Step Details** feature allows you to add additional information for each step in a testcase. The added details help you define the expected outcome and record the results during test execution.

To add step details, perform the following actions:

1. On the **Home** page, under **Projects**, select the required project.
2. Select the **Design Studio** > **Test Case**.
3. Select the specific test step where you want to add details.
4. Hover on the required test step and select the **Add Step Details** (**...**) icon.

4. Fill in the following options:
 * **Test Step description**: Enter a description of what the test step verifies. For Example: This test case is used to open the given URL.
 * **Expected Result**: Enter the expected outcome of the test step. For Example: The URL is accessible and works as expected.
 * **Pass Result**: Enter the message or value to display when the test step passes. For Example: URL opens successfully.
 * **Fail Result**: Enter the message or value to display when the test step fails. For Example: URL does not open.

5. Select **Save** to add the step details. The success message appears as **Test case info saved***.*

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note**: After execution, you can view the step details in the **Remarks** section of the [Reports](/avo-assure/create-and-execute-tests-with-design-studio/working-with-reports-section/read-a-report.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.avoautomation.com/avo-assure/create-and-execute-tests-with-design-studio/working-with-test-case-section/features-in-test-case-section-1/add-step-details.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
