# verifySelectedValue

This is a pre-built Action located under the captured dropdown element. The functionality of this action in Avo Assure is to verify whether the selected value in the dropdown matches the input value provided. The result is stored in the given dynamic variable for further use during test execution.

## **Syntax**

**Input Value**: `<text>`

| Argument                     | Description                                                                                |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| <p>\<text><br>(Required)</p> | Provide the input value which you want to compare with the selected value in the dropdown. |

**Output Value**: `<Dynamic Variable>(Optional);<Dynamic Variable>(Optional)`

| Argument                                                     | Description                                                       |
| ------------------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| \<Dynamic Variable>(Optional);\<Dynamic Variable> (Optional) | This dynamic variable stores the status as **True** or **False**. |

### **Example: Verifying the Selected Value in a Dropdown**

In this example, we explain how to verify whether the selected value in a dropdown matches the expected text provided in the input field.

* **Action**: verifySelectedValue
* **Input Value**: Last Month
  * The first argument (**Last Month**) specifies the expected value that match the currently selected option in the dropdown.
* **Output Value**: {Status}
  * The verification result is stored in the **{Status}** dynamic variable with the following possible values:
    * **True**: If the selected value matches the expected text.
    * **False**: If the selected value is not matches the expected text.
* **Logical Explanation**: The **verifySelectedValue** action takes the value from the **Input Value** column (**Last Month**). The action retrieves the currently selected option from the target dropdown element and compares it with the expected value provided in input field. If both values match exactly, the result of the verification (**True**) is stored in the **{Status}** variable.
