# Select Value by Index

This pre-built Action is located under the **@Custom Element.**&#x54;he functionality of this action in Avo Assure to select the object based on the index value specified in the input, and save the result in dynamic variable.

### Syntax

**Input Value:** `<ObjectType>;<VisibleText(Optional)>;<index>;<index>;<abs(optional)>`

| Argument                                  | Description                                                                                                    |
| ----------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| <p>\<ObjectType></p><p>(Required)</p>     | Specific type of object to be selected.                                                                        |
| <p>\<VisibleText><br>(Optional)</p>       | The visible text associated with the object.                                                                   |
| <p>\<index>;\<index></p><p>(Required)</p> | The index's of the dropdown item to be selected.                                                               |
| <p>\<abs><br>(Optional)</p>               | If the **abs** is provided, the action is performed with absolute identification using the **absolute X path** |

**Note:** If last argument abs is defined then the Action must be executed with absolute preformation with the specified **absolute X path** in the input.

**Example 1**

**Performs selection of multiple values from a list based on their index positions**

The **Select Value by Index** action takes the value from the Input Value column (e.g., **select;;0;2**) and selects the specified values by their index from the targeted list or dropdown. The result of the selection operation is stored in the **{Value}** variable as **True** or **False**

**Example 2**

**Performs selection of multiple values from a list based on their index positions and optional parameter**&#x20;

The **Select Value by Index** action takes the value from the Input Value column (e.g., **select;Last Month;0;1;//\*\[@id="ddlmonthloan"]**) and selects the specified values by their index from the targeted list or dropdown. The result of the selection operation is stored in the **{Value}** variable as **True** or **False**
