# Switch to different Window

This is a pre-built Action located under the **@Browser Element**. The functionality of this Action in Avo Assure is to switch between two different windows or tabs during debugging or execution. The result is stored in a dynamic variable for further use during test execution.

## Syntax

**Input Value**: `<window number>`&#x20;

<table><thead><tr><th>Argument</th><th>Description</th><th data-hidden></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>&#x3C;window number><br>(Required)</td><td>Provide the window number to switch to the particular window.</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

**Output Value**: `<Dynamic Variable>(Optional);<Dynamic Variable>(Optional)`

<table><thead><tr><th>Argument</th><th>Description</th><th data-hidden></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>&#x3C;Dynamic Variable>(Optional);&#x3C;Dynamic Variable>(Optional)</td><td>Both dynamic variable stores the status as <strong>True</strong> or <strong>False</strong>.</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

### Example: Switching Between Browser Windows

In this example, we explain how to switch the browser focus to a different window using the **Switch to Different Window** action.

* **Action**: Switch to Different Window
* **Input Value**: 2
  * The input value (**2**) specifies the browser window number to which the focus should be switched (for example, from the Home tab to the Admin tab).
* **Output Value**: {Window}
  * The result of the switch window operation is stored in this **{Window}** dynamic variable with the following possible values:
    * **True**: Indicates that the browser successfully switched to the specified window.
    * **False**: Indicates that the window switch failed.
* **Logical Explanation**: The **Switch to Different Window** action takes the value from the **Input Value** column (**2**) and changes the active browser context to the specified window. If the operation is successful, the result is stored in the **{Window}** variable as true.
