# Create File

Create File action in the Avo Assure is found under the **@Generic Element** is used to create a new file at the specified location, using the provided name and file type, store the result in an output variable.

### **Syntax**

**Input Value:** `<file_path>;<File_name.extn>`

| <p>\<file\_path></p><p>(Required)</p>   | Specify the file location where the user wants to create file.                                                                           |
| <p>\<file\_name.extn><br>(Required)</p> | <p>Define the appropriate file name.<br><strong>Note:</strong> supported file formats are  .txt. .xlsx, .xls, .pdf, .gif, .doc, .xml</p> |

**Output Value:**

| \<Dynamic Variable>(Optional);\<Dynamic Variable>(Optional) | This variable stores the status as **true** or **false** |

**Example**

**Create a new file at the specified location**\

The **Create File** action creates a new file with the specified name and extension at the provided file path (e.g., **C:\sam;Report.txt)**. If a file with the same name already exists, it will not be overwritten. The action status is saved in the **{Status}** variable with the following possible values:

* **True** –  if the file is created successfully
* **False** –  if the file creation fails or the file already exists
