# Get Current Date

This is a pre-built Action located under the **@Generic Element**. The functionality of this Action in Avo Assure is to fetch the current date from the system based on the specified format. The extracted date is stored in the given dynamic variable for further use during test execution.

## **Syntax**

**Input Value**:  `<format of date>`&#x20;

| Argument                                 | Description                                                                                                               |
| ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| <p>\<format of date ><br>(Required) </p> | <p>Provide the format in which the date is displayed or stored.</p><p>Supported date formats are:</p><ul><li>dd/MMM/yyyy  |

</li><li>MMM/dd/yyyy
</li><li>dd/MM/yyyy
</li><li>MM/dd/yyyy </li></ul> |

**Output Value**: `<Dynamic Variable>;<Dynamic Variable>(Optional)`

| Argument                                 | Description                                                       |
| ---------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| <p>\<Dynamic Variable><br>(Required)</p> | This dynamic variable stores the current date in provide format. |
| <p>\<Dynamic Variable><br>(Optional)</p> | This dynamic variable stores the status as **True** or **False**. |

### **Example:** Retrieving the Current System Date

In this example, we explain how to retrieve the current system date in this dd/MMM/yyyy format.

* **Action**: Get Current Date
* **Input Value**: dd/MMM/yyyy
  * The input value (**dd/MMM/yyyy**) specifies the desired date format.
* **Output Value**: {Current Date}
  * The current system date (**08/Nov/2025**) is retrieved in the specified format and stored in this **{Current Date}** dynamic variable.
  * If a second output variable is provided, then action returns the status as **True** or **False**:
    * **True**: If the date is successfully retrieved in the specified format.
    * **False**: If the retrieval fails due to a system or format error.
* **Logical Explanation**: The **Get Current Date** action takes the value from the **Input Value** column (**dd/MMM/yyyy**) and retrieves the current system date in the same format. The current date (08/Nov/2025) is stored in the **{Current Date}** variable.
