# verify the column value in excel

This is a pre-built Action located under the **@Excel Element**. The functionality of this Action in Avo Assure is to verify whether a specific value is present or not present in a column of an Excel file. The result is stored in a dynamic variable for further use during test execution.

## **Syntax**

**Input Value**: `<value>;<column/row>`

<table><thead><tr><th>Argument</th><th>Description</th><th data-hidden></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>value <br>(Required)</td><td>Provide the value to verify in the Excel file.</td><td></td></tr><tr><td>column/row<br>(Required)</td><td>Provide the column name or row name to check whether the value is present.</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

**Output Value**: `<Dynamic Variable>(Optional);<Dynamic Variable>(Optional)`

<table><thead><tr><th>Argument</th><th>Description</th><th data-hidden></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>&#x3C;Dynamic Variable>(Optional);&#x3C;Dynamic Variable>(Optional)</td><td>Both dynamic variable stores the status as <strong>True</strong> or <strong>False</strong>.</td><td></td></tr></tbody></table>

### **Example: Verifying a Column Value in an Excel File**

In this example, we explain how to verify whether a specific value exists in a particular column of an Excel sheet using the **Verify Column Value in Excel** action.

* **Action**: Verify Column Value in Excel
* **Input Value**: 103;Order ID
  * The value (**103**) specifies the data to be searched within the Excel file.\
    The column name (**Order ID**) indicates the column under which the specified value should be checked.
* **Output Value**: {Verify}
  * The execution status of the action is stored in this **{Verify}** variable with the following possible values:
    * **True**: If the value is present in the specified column.
    * **False**: If the value is not found in the specified column.
* **Logical Explanation**: The **Verify Column Value in Excel** action takes the value from the **Input Value** column **103;Order ID** and searches the given column (Order ID) in the Excel file for the specified value (103). If the value is found, the result is stored in the **{Verify}** variable as true.
