# Get Column Count IRIS

This is prebuilt action in Avo Assure, designed for table elements captured from desktop applications using IRIS methods. It instructs the Avo Assure Client to retrieve the total number of columns in the table and store the result in the output variable

### **Scenario:** Retrieve Total Number of Categories in the Table

Consider a scenario where an e-commerce desktop-based application is being tested and there is a need to determine the total number of categories present in the table. For this scenario, the Get Column Count IRIS action by Avo Assure is used. This action automatically retrieves the number of columns in the table and helps to manage data effectively.&#x20;

The action needs to fetch the input text's row number and save the result in the output variable.&#x20;
